Department for Conscription Matters

The Department for Conscription Matters, located in Stockholm, is a centrally placed department that serves as a support function for all units of the Swedish Armed Forces that train conscripts. The department provides joint support in the application of administrative and correct handling of the rights and obligations of conscripts according to the Total Defense Duty Act and the Disciplinary Responsibility Act within total defense.

Main Responsibilities

As an HR specialist in conscription administration, you will initially:

  • Serve as a central consultative support to defense branches and units in matters concerning the practical application of the conscription law regarding conscripts.
  • Plan and conduct training for administrators and other staff on issues related to the rights and obligations of conscripts.
  • Together with your colleagues, plan and conduct central networking meetings for local support functions and other relevant contact points.
  • Analyze development needs and formulate strategic recommendations and proposals for actions aimed at developing the authority's routines, guidelines, and working methods related to administrative actions and conscription administration.
  • Collaborate with other authorities such as the National Board of Conscription and Assessment in matters concerning conscription.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • Relevant post-secondary education such as law, pedagogy, or equivalent relevant work experience deemed equivalent by the employer.
  • Current and at least three years of experience working in a government agency.
  • Knowledge and experience in the application of laws, regulations, and directives.
  • Very good ability to express yourself in Swedish both verbally and in writing.

DESIRABLE

  • Completed basic training with conscription or equivalent, or other engagement related to the Swedish Armed Forces.
  • Civilian or military experience of working within the Swedish Armed Forces with conscription issues.
  • Experience or knowledge of change or development work.
  • Good experience in planning, conducting, and evaluating training.
